Getting hungry....

Waiting for the fire to burn down so we can cook some hot dogs.

Crystal Springs Hot Springs

It's good to be somewhere to be able to settle in again. We'll be calling this little cabin home for the next 2 days.

And will be soaking in this hot (106*) pond. 😎

Lexa is anxiously waiting for Anthony to return from the store with some staples.

Headed to Crystal Crane Hot Springs

We left Jerome, ID at about noon today. Driving through that part of Idaho is pretty monotonous....not much to look at. After getting into Oregon there still wasn't much but the scenery got prettier.

This place was aptly named Little Valley.

The mighty huntress!

Yesterday we walked way down into a meadow so Lexa could run free for awhile and do dog things. There were lots of little critter holes and I think Lexa's mission was to jam her nose down every one of them.
Then she got really serious about one hole....alternately digging & jamming her nose down the hole. Suddenly she jumped & flipped a little critter up in the air. I think it startled her as much as the poor rodent! She went after it & much to her dismay it darted down another hole.

Back in the car you can see evidence of her little escapade. 😄

A lazy Friday morning

We had a nice lazy morning....slept in, got up & had coffee & breakfast, then started packing up to head out. We didn't leave until almost noon! We're headed to the Twin Falls, ID area where we'll most likely find a motel for the night.
Here are some pics from our drive back down Beartooth Hwy yesterday.

These elk were just chillin' right in the middle of town in Mammoth. We got ice cream & walked around town. Lexa met & got to play with a shepherd/corgi mix puppy. They played hard and had a ball.

Beartooth Hwy

Starting our adventure up the Beartooth Hwy.
This is looking down on some of the winding road.
We made it up to the summit. It was a beautiful view!! Also kinda cold and real windy.
We stopped in at the "Top of the World Store" and bought batteries for the camera.

This pointy peak is Beartooth that the Beartooth Hwy is named for.
After a long day of driving Anthony is cooking dinner....burgers & mini potatoes. Yum! He's my sweetie! ❤️

Bison Crossing

This was on the way to the Beartooth Hwy Thurs morning.

Wednesday's Bison

We saw these bison yesterday.

Thursday morning grazers

Got an early start again this morning. We're headed up to the Beartooth Hwy out the northeast corner of the park. We came across these elk grazing in the sunshine. Anthony is using the camera to get some close-ups.

An early start

We got an early start this morning, 6:30 am, in hopes to get ahead of the traffic and crowds of people. And it worked! We also hoped to catch the early morning risers of the animal kingdom. We saw a whole colony of very cute marmots at a place called Sheepeater Cliff.

I'm having all kinds of trouble getting this posted so I'm going to quit for now.

Hard to believe this is necessary

Zero dark thirty

We decided to make an early start today so we are up at 5:00 AM for 6:00 departure. This should help us see more wildlife and fewer cars (at least in the AM).

We are taking the Mammoth / Roosevelt leg today.

Tomorrow we we do the other leg to Roosevelt and then out the NE entrance to Cooke City and the Beartooth Highway. We will probably get an early start on that one too.

Today's highlights

Sulphur Cauldron

Lexa was curious about the bubbling mud. This was the 1st place she could get close enough to see it.

One lone bison

During our journies today a bison walked along the edge of the road By the time we were close enough to get a pic, he had moved up into the woods. This is the best I could get.

G'night all

We are at the KOA in west Yellowstone. We rented a cabin (close to the bathroom)

We just polished off a couple of sirloin steaks from Gartner's and some mini potatoes both cooked over a campfire. Lexa got to start on her big beef knuckle and now it's 10:15 & time for bed.

New adventures await tomorrow!!!

Lexa's embarrassing oops!

At Massacre Rocks State Park Lexa made a startling discovery today....stepping off the side of a dock is not like stepping into the shallow edge of the creek at home. She got a BIG surprise & came up covered in reeds & algae.😄
As soon as Anthony pulled her out & I saw she was okay, I laughed so hard I cried. 😂

Perfect weather

A beautiful day!!

Heading out

The storms are gone and it is a perfect morning.

Anderson camp is OK but we were disappointed that they don't open the store in the morning (we wanted coffee) and there is no "we open at …" sign.  We were able to dig the necessaries out of the Jeep and got-ER-done.

Waiting for mom to get out of the shower

On the campground map, they call this a bridge!

Delusions of grandeur

Environmentally friendly towel dryer.

This is the covered wagon that we almost stayed in. Definitely a fair weather thing. I suspect the main use is get the kids out of the RV so mom & dad can have private time. Better than a tent though.
